A world-class artificial surf park has been proposed as part of a major resort development in Britannia Beach.
Tiger Bay Development is in the process of rezoning of the gravel pit which is south of Britannia Beach main area, the log term plan according to the developer is to create a resort around it.
Developers say the 269,000 square-foot facility would pump out 1,000 waves per hour and accommodate up to a hundred surfers.
The long term plan also includes rock climbing, biking and skateboarding infrastructure.
If the rezoning goes through, the surf park could be open by 2023.
